In a week when Ofsted have reported that the quality of PE and sport is not good enough in many schools, we are very proud to report that our amazing children have once again excelled themselves to become the Manchester Lacrosse Champions and the Manchester Central East District Basketball Champions. We have played basketball for several years and participated successfully in many competitions, but this was our first try at Lacrosse. Miss Jagger managed to do a little coaching with the team – about 40 minutes! We were amazed at how well our team did. They were amazing, winning every match against some very talented, experienced teams.
Sport and PE play a very important part in our school, both competitive and non competitive. In the last few weeks, for example a child in Year 5 will have had access to the following activities:
2 x 1 hour PE sessions, including their weekly swimming session
40 minutes Army fitness session delivered by our Commando Jagger
30 minutes football training session delivered by Manchester City coaches
After School Sports Clubs – Judo, Street Dance, Basketball delivered by Manchester Giants players, Football
An afternoon trip to British Squash Centre for squash activities and coaching by the British Team.
Oh and they also mamaged to fit in lots of fantastic non sports based work too!
