The hall was transformed into a snowy wasteland as Year 6 were immersed in Captain Scott’s disastrous race to the South Pole. They met the quartermaster and a journalist at Base camp – tasting dog food amongst other delicacies and realising the important role that a journalist has in letting the world know about important events. They crawled over icy ground to find that Amundsen had already arrived and planted the Norwegian flag, and explored Captain Scott’s feelings. They finally met Scott, alone in his tent, his fellow explorers dead, as he wrote his final messages in his diary.
