Here at St Francis our chaplains play an important role in supporting the catholic life of the school. We have a very enthusiastic and caring group of chaplains who give joyful witness to Christ in our school. Their roles include:

  • Leading class collective worships.

  • Leading assemblies for feast days and important times of year for the Catholic faith.

  • Making links with the parish.

  • Help support Year 3 on their sacramental journey.

  • Supporting the school with raising money for charities such as St Joseph’s Penny, Cornerstones and Christies.

  • Leading liturgies and promoting an awareness of important events within the liturgical calendar.

  • Promoting the Catholic values in school.

  • Announcing the Disciples of the week in the Friday Fellowship assembly.

  • Leading school prayers during Star assemblies.

Our chaplains apply for the role in school and have an interview. Here are some of their reasons for becoming chaplains.

"Being a chaplain makes me feel mature and responsible"

"I help to raise money for charities which makes me feel incredible inside. It helps to make people feel loved"

"As a chaplain you spread God's word which can change communities for the better"
