Macmillan Coffee Morning
In September the chaplains organised a cake sale for Macmillan cancer support. Staff baked and bought lots of cakes, which the chaplains helped sell. This charity was especially close to our hearts this year as we lost Mrs Scott to cancer during the summer. We raised £311!
During Harvest we collected items such as toilet roll, pasta, tinned food, tea and coffee for the homeless in Manchester. The children often recognise that there are lots of people less fortunate than us in Manchester and wanted to do something to help. We took the items to Cornerstones who were very grateful as their shelves were empty!
During Harvest we also used the CAFOD theme of Brighten Up this year. We discussed how some people in the world live in poverty and don’t even have clean water, something we take for granted. Every child should be able to live life to the full, have the right to clean water and go to school. We chose to Brighten Up to help build a brighter world for children by dressing in bright clothes and raising money. The money raised went to CAFOD to help more children in the world have access to clean and safe water. We raised an amazing £204!
