Sports at St Francis
At St Francis, we believe that regular participation in sport and physical activity is vital for every child’s physical, mental, and social development. From the Early Years, we aim to instil a love of movement, teamwork, and healthy competition.
We actively promote physical activity throughout the school day in a variety of ways:
- Playtime Sports Leaders: Trained pupil leaders organise and lead games during break times, helping younger children get involved and stay active.
- Timetabled Activities: A rotating schedule of sports is available during play and lunch breaks, ensuring variety and inclusivity.
- Girls in Sport: We place a strong emphasis on encouraging girls to participate in sport, breaking down barriers and building confidence.
- After-School Clubs: We offer sporting after school clubs, which vary over the year.
- Inclusive Opportunities: We ensure that all pupils, regardless of ability, have access to physical activity through adapted games and inclusive PE sessions.
- Competitive Sport: Pupils have the opportunity to represent the school in local competitions and tournaments, fostering school spirit and resilience.
We are proud of our vibrant sporting culture and the positive impact it has on our pupils’ wellbeing, confidence, and sense of belonging. Whether it’s through structured PE lessons or spontaneous playground games, we encourage every child to move, play, and thrive.
Our PE curriculum is delivered RCSD – Rob Curran Sports Development.
