Prayer Life of Our School
Prayer and liturgy are at the heart of life at St Francis. In line with the new Prayer and Liturgy Directory for Catholic Schools, we ensure that every child has regular opportunities to encounter Christ through prayer and worship.
- Daily Prayer: Each day begins and ends with prayer, and children are encouraged to lead prayers in class.
- Weekly Celebration of the Word Classes gather for liturgical prayer that reflects the Church’s seasons and themes.
- Celebration of the Eucharist: School and class Masses are celebrated regularly with our parish community. Children play an active role by reading, singing, and preparing the liturgy.
- Seasonal Liturgies and Services: Advent, Christmas, Lent, and Easter are marked with special celebrations, including Nativity plays and Carol Services.
- Sacramental Programme: In partnership with our parish, children prepare for Reconciliation and First Holy Communion as part of their faith journey.
Every classroom has a prayer focus area, updated to reflect the liturgical season and current RE topics. We are also developing prayer stations around the school to provide spaces for reflection and encounter with God.
Our aim is that prayer and worship are not occasional events but a daily rhythm, forming the spiritual life of our school and helping children grow in faith.
